Our Major Project for 2006!
The Rotaract Club of Apia’s major project for this year is Secondary School Student’s Quiz. This project has been in the pipeline for a couple of months now and I’m pleased to report that it’s well underway now!!!
Here’s a quick outline of what we’re planning.

ROTARACT SCHOLAR’S QUIZ
Purpose:
To provide students with an opportunity, give them an incentive to study for School Certificate exams in a fun environment. Foster competitive spirit and reiterate the value of education to our youth.
Proposed Event:
A secondary school quiz targeted at Year 12 students sitting School Certificate Exams.

ROTARACT SCHOLAR’S QUIZ
Purpose:
To provide students with an opportunity, give them an incentive to study for School Certificate exams in a fun environment. Foster competitive spirit and reiterate the value of education to our youth.
Proposed Event:
A secondary school quiz targeted at Year 12 students sitting School Certificate Exams.
- Three individuals from each school are selected by the school to represent them in one team, one individual for each of the subject categories – Commerce, Arts, Science and whereas all can answer the General Knowledge category of the quiz.
- 16 schools will compete against each other making the total number of competitors 48.
- The quiz will take place, one day a week (Saturday) over an 8-week period, the proposed timeframe being during August and September. The remaining 2 weeks, whereby the first week will be targeted for preparations for the Quarter Finals, and the last one for Semi Final and Final Rounds (please refer to Attachment – Quiz Schedule for clarification).
- The quiz will work by process of elimination with 8 teams being eliminated by the end of week 6 into the competition (please refer to Attachment – Quiz Schedule for clarification). Henceforth, teams from each schools will get to compete twice in these Preliminary Rounds (Round Robin) and not just once.
- There are prizes for the eventual individual winners from each category, as well as a prize for the school with the highest combined scores.
- The event is sponsored by companies/ Club fundraising.
